Project Overview

These delicate silk organza tea roses are a great starter project for those new to millinery flower making. They can be made without any special tools and only require a small amount of material.

If you have organza off-cuts from another project, like the Shoulder Length Veil, you will have more than enough to make quite a few roses.

Bonded with fusible webbing for durability, these understated roses can be adapted by changing the pattern size. Alternatively, you can try embellishing them with different types of pearls and beads.

White or ivory organza is a classic choice if you plan to attach the roses to a veil or use them to create a bridal headdress. They would look equally as lovely in other colours, though, and would be right at home on a wide-brimmed straw hat.

This tutorial for making silk organza tea roses was written by bridal headwear expert Denise Innes-Spencer of The British School of Millinery.
