Sinamay Loops

Projects / Sinamay Loops

Project Overview

Before you get rid of your sinamay remnants, have a think about what they could be used for in the future. By saving leftover millinery materials, you will build up a good stock of fabrics that you can use to make unique details to complement custom pieces. It’s good practice for your creativity, your wallet and the environment!

You don’t need a huge piece of sinamay to create some nice bias strips to work with, you can just use leftover bits and pieces from other hat making projects to make these versatile loops.

The sinamay loops pictured here were created from a 7” x 7” (18cm x 18cm) piece, but you can adapt the instructions to work with any size square.

This sinamay loop tutorial is by American milliner Amy Fowler of Humboldt Haberdashery.
