Hat Making Project
Sinamay Saucer
Make a simple sinamay saucer without a hat block.
Projects / Sinamay Saucer
Project Overview
In this tutorial, you will learn how to make a sinamay saucer fascinator base without using a hat block. Once you’ve learned how to make this sinamay saucer, you can go on to create a whole range of unique headpieces by trimming this simple design with different decorations.
The edges of the Sinamay Saucer are covered with matching bias binding to give it a polished look. You can then attach it to a hair band to add stability.
Even if you’ve never made a hat or a fascinator before, completing this project will help you to develop your millinery skills.
This tutorial was written by HATalk Founder Ann Morse-Brown and was originally published in her book, Make Fascinators.
